Federal practitioners will meet to discuss current and future strategies for knowledge management.

On Friday, February 19, 2016, the Department of Transportation (DOT) will host the 21st Quarterly Meeting of the Federal Knowledge Community (FKMC) in Washington, DC.

Dr. Ed Hoffman, FKMC Chair and NASA Chief Knowledge Officer, will give an update of several Critical Knowledge initiatives at NASA. He will also showcase a new digital tool that NASA is making available to practitioners and their colleagues interested in advocating and learning more about knowledge management and services: the Knowledge Toolbox. This new educational and interactive dashboard contains tools, resources, and information for individuals and teams, inside and outside of government, to enhance their knowledge sharing efforts on real life projects and programs.

During the afternoon session, Dr. Madelyn Blair of Columbia University, will be presenting on Resilience— an Unexpected Consequence of KM, which will explore the relationship of knowledge to resilience and the implication to organizational challenges. She will share her research and findings and facilitate an interactive table-top problem-solving session. Also in the afternoon, Turo Dexter, Knowledge Management Officer, DOT, will update on changing the online community platform from max.gov to apan.org.

The FKMC quarterly meetings are attended in person and remotely by interested practitioners at federal agencies to share strategies for Knowledge Management (KM) and further innovate creative solutions to make KM more effective within individual agencies, across the federal system, and beyond.

All registered members of the Federal Knowledge Management Community (on www.max.gov) are welcome to attend in person or by Adobe Connect – information for attending or connecting can be found at the link above.
