ASK OCE — July 20, 2006 — Vol. 1, Issue 10
The Senate Appropriations Committee recommended last week that NASA receive just over $16.757 billion for Fiscal Year 2007.
The Senate committee’s recommendation was $50.227 million higher than the House committee’s recommendation of $16.707 billion. Both fall short of the $16,792,227,000 budget request. The Senate’s recommended appropriation includes:
- $10,488,805,000 for the Science Mission Directorate (SMD), Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD), the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorates (ARMD), and NASA’s education programs. The recommendation is $852,078,000 above the Fiscal Year 2006 enacted level.
- $6,234,922,000 for Exploration Capabilities, a decrease of $342,979,000 below the Fiscal Year 2006 base enacted level. The Exploration Capabilities (EC) account provides funding for the Space Operations Mission Directorate and includes the International Space Station (ISS), the Space Shuttle Program, and Space and Flight Support.
