APPEL Receives IACET Recognition

The NASA Academy for Program/Project & Engineering Leadership (APPEL) accepted the 2012 Exemplar Award for Internal Training by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) on August 23, 2012. The award recognizes programs dedicated to continuing education and training through cost-effective, results-oriented means. APPEL team member Anthony Maturo accepted the award on behalf of APPEL Director Dr. Ed Hoffman.

“IACET’s reach is global, and it is an honor to be chosen from among so many elite organizations for this award,” said Donna Wilson, APPEL Curriculum Lead. “We graciously accept this recognition and will continue to strive for excellence.”

IACET applauded APPEL’s use of subject matter experts in the design and development of each of its programs as well as its commitment to the identification of evolving and emerging learning needs, hands-on development learning opportunities such as Project HOPE (Hands-On Project Experience) for young professionals, and products and services designed to address competencies required for project management and systems engineering.

As the only organization with a continuing education and training standard approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), IACET serves as an objective, third-party source of validation of the quality of the Academy’s professional development activities.
