Masters with Masters 33 (Dr. Rafat Ansari)
Dr. Rafat Ansari provided a lively discussion of his work at NASA to advance light scattering technology for space experiments onboard the space shuttle orbiter and space station. He has applied these breakthroughs to biomedical applications here on Earth. He shared numerous lessons learned from his efforts to monitor the health of astronauts on long-duration missions, and his development of methods to non-invasively and quantitatively diagnose diseases such as diabetes, cataracts, macular degeneration and Alzheimer’s before clinical symptoms appear, using light in various forms to detect ocular and systemic abnormalities.
Masters with Masters is a series that brings together master practitioners to reflect on their experiences, lessons learned, and thoughts about upcoming challenges.
