Academy Director Ed Dr. Hoffman addressed the Project Management Institute’s Global Corporate Council on talent management.

What does talent management mean? Is it just another business buzzword? Research shows that definitions of talent management vary widely, but organizations around the world agree that it is important.

Speaking at the Project Management Institute’s Global Corporate Council meeting in Palo Alto in March, Hoffman pointed out a paradox about talent management in project-based organizations. Many talent management initiatives focus on attracting, developing, and retaining high-potential performers, he said, but projects are inherently team-based. He provided an overview of the Academy’s career development framework for individuals as well as its activities to support project and engineering teams and organizational learning.
