Virgin Galactic unveiled the design of its new spacecraft and carrier aircraft.
SpaceShipTwo will be lifted and launched into space by White Knight Two, a carrier aircraft that Virgin Galactic describes as the worlds largest all-carbon composite aircraft. SpaceShipTwo is designed to carry up to eight astronauts on a sub-orbital space flight.
The new vehicles and launch system are based on the technology of SpaceShipOne, which won the $10 million Ansari X Prize in October 2004.
