Skill Level: Open to all.

This course, consisting of two-half day sessions will feature winning strategies for capturing and applying lessons learned at NASA, and provide participants with an interactive experience that will allow them to appreciate, explore, develop a deep understanding of, and familiarize themselves with the tools, templates, techniques, processes, and best practices in place today at NASA for capturing, sharing, and learning NASA lessons. The class is highly interactive and will consist of small group exercises and facilitated discussions supported by hardcopy materials and online access to available resources. Additionally, participants will be assigned a Lessons Learned practicum assignment to undertake relative to their specific role. *There will be approximately 1.5 hours required to complete a course assignment prior to the second session.

This course is designed for all members of the NASA technical and management workforce who work within the NASA programs and project lifecycle.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of creating a plan for when you will capture lessons learned as an expected project deliverable.
  • Locate, search, and retrieve lessons learned from available NASA lessons learned repositories. 
  • Identify, document, and submit lessons learned. 
  • Utilize effective tools and templates for analyzing lessons learned.
