On Friday, July 17, 2015, the Department of Transportation will host the 19th Quarterly Meeting of the Federal Knowledge Community (FKMC) in Washington, DC.

The FKMC meets quarterly at participating federal agencies to share strategies for Knowledge Management (KM) and brainstorm creative solutions to make KM more effective within individual agencies, across the federal system, and beyond.

During this third meeting in 2015, Barbara Fillip, PhD, PMP, Knowledge Management Project Manager (ASRC), NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, will present: Strategies for Transferring Project Lessons at NASA/Goddard. Her presentation will outline:

  • KM practices and achievements to date in the NASA/Goddard context;
  • Knowledge mapping as an innovative approach to document and share lessons;
  • Exploring “push” strategies to enhance the transfer of project lessons.

During the afternoon session, Turo Dexter, Knowledge Management Officer, DOT, will demo the APAN portal as the prospective replacement of Max.gov for the FKMC’s collaboration and communications portal.

One of the most notable improvements for the meetings in 2014 was the success of virtual participation, which included enhancements through Adobe Connect, featuring chat and virtual break-out rooms for the group problem-solving activity and supporting improved hearing and voice input. Adobe Connect will be available for remote participants during the July 17 session (see details on Max.gov).

All registered members of the Federal Knowledge Management Community (on www.max.gov) are welcome to attend in person or by Adobe Connect. The meeting will take place at US DOT / Federal Transit Administration, 1200 New Jersey Av SE, Room E44-446, Washington DC 20590. Doors open at 8:30 am, and the program begins at 9 am. For more information on the meeting and to sign-up to attend, please visit the Knowledge Management Community site on http://www.max.gov.
