14th Quarterly Federal Knowledge Management Working Group meeting – Pentagon Joint Staff.

On March 28, 2014, the Joint Staff Knowledge Management cross-functional team hosted the “14th Quarterly Federal Knowledge Management Community Meeting” at the Pentagon.
The Federal Knowledge Community is a vital working group that brings together government knowledge experts from diverse organizations to learn from each other and share resources. By participating in the voluntary community, agencies have the opportunity to showcase their KM practices, share best and emerging practices, leverage lessons learned, and derive more value from existing KM tools, resources and education.
The March 28th session was hosted in the impressive Pentagon facilities for over forty participants who attended live and virtually from agencies such as DOS, DHS, DOD, NASA, DOE, DOT, FDA and others. Attendees provided updates on their agency’s KM projects and challenges, participated in the global DOD Joint KM Working Group, and learned about DISA’s new collaborative content and knowledge management system “Forge.mil.” The former Director, UNDP Knowledge Management Group hosted an overview on “Knowledge Management at the UN, Making KM work for large entities, context, implementation and lessons learned,” and the former founding director of George Mason’s OD and KM program, and current Associate Professor in the School of Public Policy provided an overview of the program, “It’s All Change – George Mason’s ODKM Program” and reviewed capstone opportunities connecting students and KM practitioners for learning challenges.
